I would view the GE13 in different perspectives and to me, Pakatan Rakyat is not the loser in the General Election. In fact, the Pakatan Rakyat is the biggest winner, winning the heart of almost all Malaysian, be it inside Malaysia or outside of the country.
Big crowd turn out |
Another winner emerge from the GE13, is Malaysians. From this General Election, it is proven that Malaysians, from every background, be it Malays, Chinese or Indians join forces to go out and vote for their preferred candidates until the election registered the highest voters turn out ever. Not only that, many voters even stay after voting to filter out phantom voters and join forces at the counting station to prevent fraud. Although fraud cannot be 100% prevent from this election, it proves that it is doable. Fellow Malaysians, let us not give up and grieve over the results when the leaders themselves are optimistic about the outcome. Let's continue the momentum.
Many might have think that democracy have been robbed, but yesterday was a lesson that democracy is there. Many might have thought that if certain parties did not play foul, Pakatan Rakyat would have form the government. I think not necessary. Let us be logical, how many of foul plays are there in the West Malaysia? Is it enough to overcome the fixed deposit area in the East Malaysia? In fact, yesterday's election clearly informed the Pakatan Rakyat that they are not doing enough in the East Malaysia. There is indeed change in Malaysia and clearly, there is still a lot need to be done by the Pakatan Rakyat. Pakatan Rakyat might have popular votes gaining more than 50% of the votes, but clearly in order for the Malaysia to change, it cannot happen at just certain areas. It needs to be from all around the country.
And finally, the Pakatan Rakyat record yet another milestone, getting extra 7 parliament seats.
For fellow Malaysians hoping to see changes in Malaysia, let us not be despair by the results, although the manner that the Pakatan Rakyat lost was full of pain, but let us be reminded that every cloud has a silver lining. The manner of how we as Malaysians fought for our rights were simply amazing, record voters turn out, joining forces to filter the phantom voters and prevent fraud - it simply reminds us how alive democracy is in the country.
